Getting There

Lefkada is the only Greek island connected to the mainland by road, via a short causeway and floating bridge at the northern tip. The nearest airport is at Aktion (Preveza), about 25 km north, with summer charter flights from across Europe and year-round connections to Athens. A taxi from the airport to Lefkada Town is around 30 minutes.

By bus, KTEL services run from Athens (about 5–6 hours) and from Thessaloniki (8–9 hours), via the Rio-Antirrio bridge.

Onward ferries from Vasiliki in the south of the island run several times daily in summer to Fiskardo on Kefalonia and (sometimes) on to Frikes on Ithaki — a useful route for a multi-island trip.
