The Bourtzi is a small pine-covered peninsula that separates the old port from the new harbour in Skiathos Town. A short walk from the waterfront brings you to a Venetian fortress that once guarded the passage between the two harbours — now converted into a cultural centre hosting occasional concerts and exhibitions in summer. The headland itself is the best place in town for an evening stroll: the views across the port and out toward the open Aegean are excellent, the pine trees provide shade, and it gets a breeze when the rest of town is airless.
