Hegedus Gyula Street Synagogue

Early 20th-century synagogue in Budapest's Ujlipotvaros district

Hegedus Gyula Street Synagogue was built in 1911 to designs by Bela Vajda and later enlarged in the 1920s by Leopold Baumhorn, one of Hungary's best-known synagogue architects. Its value is mostly architectural, as part of the Jewish heritage of Ujlipotvaros and northern Pest.

It is a worthwhile look if you are already walking the district around Margaret Bridge. Check access before making a special trip, since active religious buildings are not always open for casual visits.
