Joseph Barracks is a Baroque corner house in the Castle District, built around 1810 and later used as a prison. Lajos Kossuth and Mihály Táncsics were among the Hungarian historical figures held here.
The courtyard has a small archaeological park and an exhibition space in an older Baroque gunpowder house. It is a worthwhile stop if you are already walking the quieter streets north of Matthias Church.
