Memorial of Siege of Buda

The Memorial of Siege of Buda is a 1936 monument by Bela Ohmann in the Castle District. Its winged female figure holds up the apostolic double cross, commemorating the 1686 battle in which allied European forces took Buda Castle from Ottoman control.

It is a small stop among much bigger Castle District sights, but it gives historical context to the hilltop. Look for it while walking between Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion, and the palace area.
