Petofi Bridge is not Budapest's grandest Danube crossing, but it earns its place for the way it frames the southern city. Trams, cyclists, and walkers move between Buda and Pest with open views toward Gellert Hill, the university quarter, and the broad river bend.
It is most useful as part of a walk between the Great Market Hall, the Buda riverside, and the cultural venues around the National Theatre. Come for the everyday city and the view, not ornate Chain Bridge theatre.
