Gárdonyi Géza Memorial House preserves the home of the writer most closely associated with Eger's heroic self-image. Gárdonyi wrote Eclipse of the Crescent Moon, the much-loved Hungarian novel about the 1552 siege of Eger, and the house keeps his study, personal objects, and the quiet domestic setting where that patriotic legend was shaped.
It is a small museum, best visited after the castle rather than before it. The castle gives you the stones and cannon; Gárdonyi's house shows how the siege lived on in literature, school memory, and Hungarian identity. The walk up also gives a pleasant change of pace from the busier streets below.
