Eger's old town is compact and easily walkable — the castle, cathedral, minaret, Dobó Square, and most of the restaurants and cafes are within fifteen minutes on foot of each other. The Valley of the Beautiful Woman is a pleasant twenty-minute walk from the centre, slightly uphill on the way back.
The thermal baths are a short walk or taxi ride from the centre. Egerszalók is about 10 kilometres out and is served by local buses from the bus station, or easily reached by taxi or hire car. Local buses cover the city and surrounding villages if you want to explore the wine region.
