The Convent Church is part of Esztergom's Franciscan and Pauline religious history. The Marianus Franciscans founded the community in 1685, and the stone church and convent were built in the 18th century in honour of the Holy Cross.
It is a quieter stop than the basilica or royal palace ruins, but it adds useful context to the dense cluster of churches, religious archives, and ecclesiastical buildings around the old centre.
