The Royal Palace of Gödöllő is the central reason most people come here — a large Baroque palace associated with Empress Elisabeth (Sisi), now partially restored and open for guided tours. The adjacent Queen Elisabeth Park is accessible separately and makes a pleasant walk. A bit further out, the Baroque pilgrimage church at Máriabesnyő is an interesting detour in a wooded setting.
The town also has connections to Hungary's early 20th-century arts and crafts movement — the Gödöllő Artists' Colony worked here around 1900–1920, producing distinctive textile and graphic works influenced by the British Arts and Crafts movement. The local history museum has material on this period, which is less known outside Hungary but of genuine interest to those curious about Central European modernism.
