The Inner Lake, or Belső-tó, sits in a volcanic basin below Tihany village. It is a calm, reed-edged contrast to the open water of Balaton and one of the easiest places on the peninsula to feel its geological oddness.
Paths and lanes around the lake make a good short walk from the abbey area. Look back uphill for one of the classic Tihany views: the abbey towers above pasture, water, and low volcanic ridges.
