The ferry between Tihany and Szántód is the practical shortcut across Lake Balaton, linking the north and south shores at one of the lake's narrowest points. Cars, cyclists, and foot passengers all use it, and in summer it feels like part transport, part miniature cruise.
The crossing is short but scenic, with the abbey rising behind Tihany and the flatter south shore ahead. Even if you are not changing shores, it is a pleasant way to see the peninsula from the water without committing to a longer boat trip.
