Bori Néni Furniture Painting Workshop

One of several workshops in the Hadas district, the furniture painting workshop traditionally associated with the Bori Néni school keeps alive the bright, floral painted-chest tradition. Painted dowry chests, beds, and cupboards were the standard furnishings of a Matyó home in the nineteenth century — the patterns mirror the embroidery, all tulips and roses on a dark ground.

You can buy small painted pieces here, watch demonstrations, and try a brush yourself if you ask.
