The city centre is compact and walkable, but the main attractions — Diósgyőr Castle, Miskolctapolca, and Lillafüred — require transport. Miskolc has a tram and bus network; trams run along the main east-west axis and are the most useful line for visitors, connecting the centre to the Diósgyőr area.
For Miskolctapolca, take tram line 1 to the end of the line or take a bus. For Lillafüred, the narrow-gauge forest railway from Miskolc-Majláth station is the recommended option — practical and scenic. Taxis and rideshares are available but public transport covers most visitor needs at low cost.
Cycling is possible in the centre, but the city is hilly and not especially bike-friendly outside of dedicated paths.
