The Mining Museum in Palais Esterhazy fills a baroque house with one of Hungary's strongest mining collections. Its most memorable exhibit is a life-size early 20th-century mine shaft, which gives the technical displays a sense of scale.
It is a good indoor stop in Sopron's old centre, especially if you want a museum that looks beyond the city's churches and merchant houses.
