Sopron's compact old town is the main draw — a horseshoe of medieval and Baroque streets built on the site of the Roman settlement of Scarbantia, circled by a medieval inner ring road that follows the original town walls. The best way to see it is simply to walk: the entire historic core takes about two hours to cover thoroughly.
