Villa Medici occupies a 19th-century villa in a garden just below the Castle District, with a substantial restaurant in the main building and a more relaxed terrace café in the grounds. The menu is broadly Hungarian-Mediterranean and the wine list — given that Balaton's vineyards are 20 minutes away — is much stronger than the cooking would suggest.
It is the place in Veszprém for a slower, formal lunch or dinner, with good service and a calm setting away from the tourist street. Prices are higher than the everyday places but reasonable by international standards.
