Veszprém's food scene is small but improved markedly when the town was named European Capital of Culture in 2023. Several places opened or were renovated for the occasion and have stayed. The classics are still solid Hungarian: goulash, slow-cooked pork stews, paprika chicken, dumplings, and good wines from the nearby Balaton-felvidék region.
