Höfn's nine-hole golf course offers one of the more surreal sporting experiences in Iceland. The course is set on the flat land north of town with Vatnajökull visible across the bay and Hornafjörður spreading out to the east. Playing in June, when the sun does not set and the light stays golden all night, is a genuinely Icelandic experience — the kind of thing you will tell people about long after the golf itself is forgotten. Green fees are modest by Icelandic standards and the club is welcoming to visitors.
