Höfn is more a base than a destination in itself, but the surrounding landscape is extraordinary. The glacier is omnipresent — Vatnajökull dominates the northern horizon and its outlet tongues reach down into the valleys around town. Puffins, black sand beaches, and one of Iceland's most photogenic mountains are all within easy reach.
