The Jeanie Johnston is a full-scale replica of an 1847 sailing ship that carried Irish emigrants to North America during and after the Great Famine. The original Jeanie Johnston completed 16 voyages between 1847 and 1858 without losing a single passenger — remarkable for famine ships of the era, when mortality rates on crossings were often devastating.
The replica is moored permanently on the Liffey at Custom House Quay and offers guided tours below decks, showing the cramped conditions in which emigrants made the six-to-eight week crossing. The tour provides powerful context for understanding the Famine emigration.
