The East Pier is the more popular of Dun Laoghaire's two granite piers, stretching about 1.5 km into Dublin Bay. Locals walk it at all hours and in most weather: the views back to the town and across to Howth Head on the north shore of the bay are excellent. A lighthouse marks the end. The pier is free and always open.
