Sally Gap is one of the great Wicklow mountain crossings, a high, open crossroads where roads run toward Dublin, Blessington, Glendalough, and Roundwood. The appeal is the exposed blanket bog and the sudden sense of space after the wooded estates and villages below.
From Enniskerry it works as part of a mountain drive or cycling route, often combined with Powerscourt, Lough Tay, or Glendalough. Conditions matter: mist, ice, and bad parking can turn the pass from scenic to awkward fast, so treat it as mountain country rather than a casual suburban viewpoint.
