Fitzgerald Stadium

Fitzgerald Stadium is the main GAA stadium in County Kerry, with a capacity of around 38,000. It hosts Kerry's home games in the Munster Championship and is one of the larger county grounds in Ireland. If you are in Killarney during the summer and Kerry are playing a championship match, attending a game is an excellent way to experience the passion that Gaelic football inspires in the county.

Tickets for championship matches can be bought through the GAA website or at the gate. The stadium is about a kilometre north of the town centre, a 15-minute walk. Kerry's record in Gaelic football is unmatched in Ireland and the county's supporters are knowledgeable and enthusiastic — even a mundane league match here has atmosphere.

A story
Kerry is the most successful county in Gaelic football, having won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship 38 times — more than any other county. The county team trains and plays championship matches here, and the atmosphere for Kerry home games is unlike almost anything else in Irish sport. The stadium is named after Dick Fitzgerald, a Kerry player and manager who died in 1930 and is credited with writing the first tactical manual on Gaelic football.
