The Kerry County Museum on Denny Street covers Kerry's history from prehistoric times through the medieval period and into the present. It is one of the better county museums in Ireland. The Blennerville Windmill, about 3 kilometres west along the canal, is Ireland's largest working windmill and has a visitor centre focused on the area's Famine-era emigration history.
Tralee Town Park is one of the finest urban parks in western Ireland — a broad green space with a rose garden containing over 5,000 varieties, a boating lake, and a canal walk. The adjacent Siamsa Tíre is the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, presenting traditional music and dance performances through the summer months.
The real reason most visitors come to Tralee is access to the surrounding Kerry countryside. The Dingle Peninsula road runs west from the town into some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Ireland, and the Ring of Kerry circuit begins just to the south.
