Groudle Glen Waterwheel is a modest but charming stop in the wooded valley north of Douglas. The glen was developed as a Victorian pleasure ground, and the restored wheel fits that old excursion atmosphere better than a grand industrial narrative.
It is best combined with a walk through Groudle Glen and, when operating, the little railway toward the coast. The appeal is gentle: trees, water, a piece of island leisure history, and an easy escape from the Douglas seafront.
