The Roman amphitheatre of Interamnia is the less well-known of Teramo's two Roman survivals, dating from around the second century AD. Around half of the elliptical outer wall and the foundations of the arena are still visible, though heavily built into the later medieval fabric of the centre.
The site sits a short walk from the more impressive Roman theatre, and the two are usually visited together. Combined with the cathedral and the archaeology museum, the centre's Roman past makes a coherent half-day's wander.
