When to Go

Crotone has a classic Mediterranean climate — hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. July and August are the peak months for the beaches, with sea temperatures around 26–28°C and little rain, but the heat can be extreme and the coast road to Capo Colonna becomes busy. June and September offer the same warm sea with fewer people and more bearable temperatures for exploring on foot.

Spring (April to May) is good for walking and visiting the archaeological sites — temperatures are pleasant, the landscape is green, and the sea is warming up. The Madonna di Capocolonna procession in May draws pilgrims from across the region.

Winter is quiet and mild enough to visit comfortably, though many seafront restaurants and beach facilities close from October to April.
