The small Oratorio dell'Annunziata beside the Este Castle is an elegant Renaissance chapel, often overlooked by visitors who walk straight past towards the castle entrance. The exterior is plain, but the interior retains 15th-century carved decoration and a peaceful atmosphere quite different from the busy street outside.
The oratory formed part of the Este court complex and was used for private devotional purposes by the ducal family. It now serves as a small exhibition space for temporary shows related to local history and art. Worth five minutes of anyone's time, particularly as it costs nothing and is often completely empty.
