Via delle Volte

Via delle Volte is one of Ferrara's most atmospheric medieval streets. Its covered passages and brick arches recall the period when this was a working street of shops, warehouses, and workshops close to the river trade.

It is best seen on foot, especially in the quieter hours when the low arches and long perspective of the street are easiest to appreciate. Combine it with Ferrara Cathedral, the Jewish Ghetto, and the Este Castle.
