Museo Glauco Lombardi

The Museo Glauco Lombardi is a small but quirky collection devoted mostly to Marie Louise of Austria, the second wife of Napoleon, who was granted the Duchy of Parma in 1815 and ruled it until 1847. The 19th-century paintings, jewellery, court costumes, miniatures, and Napoleonic memorabilia (including some of his personal effects) belonged to the collector Glauco Lombardi, who left them to the city.

It is in the Palazzo di Riserva on Strada Garibaldi, a short walk from the Pilotta. An hour is enough; the curatorial approach is intimate and the rooms feel like a private house rather than a public museum.
