Aquafan

Aquafan is one of the largest water parks in Italy, occupying a substantial area on the northern edge of Riccione. It has more than 30 water slides and attractions ranging from gentle family rides to serious speed slides, plus wave pools, a lazy river, and dedicated areas for different age groups.

The park is genuinely good at what it does, and on a hot August day it fills to capacity with families and teenagers from across northern Italy. Arriving early is important — the main parking fills by mid-morning in peak season, and the queues for the most popular slides can run to 45 minutes in the afternoon. Weekdays are significantly quieter than weekends.

A story
Aquafan opened in 1984 and was one of the first major water parks in Italy. For the generation of Italians who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, it has an almost totemic status — the name alone triggers specific summer memories in a way that few places manage.
