Beaches

Rimini's 15-kilometre stretch of fine sandy beach is the original Italian Riviera. The sand is wide, the water is shallow, and the bathing establishments — bagni, numbered consecutively from north to south — divide the beach into orderly grids of umbrellas and sun loungers.

Public beaches. Short stretches between the bagni are free; look for the signs. They have lifeguards but few facilities — bring your own umbrella.

Bagni (private beach clubs). Most of the coast is run as bagni: pay around 25–35 euros per day for an umbrella and two loungers in season. Many include showers, beach volleyball courts, and snack bars. Booking ahead in August is a good idea.

Marina Centro. The original belle-époque section just below the old town, with the Grand Hotel Rimini, the Parco del Mare promenade, and the better gelaterias. The pleasantest stretch for a walk.

Bellariva, Marebello, Rivazzurra, Miramare. The long southern strip, running towards Riccione — more family-oriented, more party-oriented further south.
