Casa Cavazzini is Udine's modern and contemporary art museum, housed in a medieval merchant's house renovated by Gae Aulenti. The permanent collection covers Italian 20th-century art — Sironi, De Chirico, Carrà, Morandi, Fontana — along with rotating contemporary exhibitions.
The building itself is half the appeal: Aulenti exposed the medieval frescoes and timber beams in the older rooms, contrasting them with sharp white modern galleries. A good half-hour visit between bigger sights. Open Tuesday to Sunday.
