Necci has been operating since 1924 and is as responsible as anything for Pigneto's reputation. Pier Paolo Pasolini drank here while filming Accattone on the surrounding streets in 1961 — the association has never faded. The venue runs from morning coffee and cornetti through an afternoon of wine and charcuterie boards to late-night cocktails, and the covered garden courtyard is one of the best places to sit in east Rome. It functions as a full restaurant at lunch and dinner, with a Roman menu that takes the cooking seriously.
