San Pietro in Montorio

San Pietro in Montorio is a Renaissance church on the Janiculum side of Trastevere, traditionally linked to the site of St. Peter's crucifixion. It was commissioned by Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, and its chapels, tombs, and hilltop setting make it a worthwhile stop when walking above Trastevere.

Irish visitors often look for the graves of three Gaelic chiefs connected with the Flight of the Earls in 1607. The church is also closely associated with Bramante's Tempietto, one of Rome's great small Renaissance monuments.
