Bergamo is best reached by train from Milan (50 minutes from Centrale or Porta Garibaldi, roughly hourly). Orio al Serio airport, 5 km south of the city center, is served by Ryanair and other low-cost carriers with connections across Europe — making Bergamo a common entry point into northern Italy. Buses connect the airport to the train station and to Città Alta.
