San Donato has the standard complement of Italian bars — places that serve espresso and cornetti in the morning, a panino and a glass of wine at lunch, and aperitivo in the early evening. The Metanopoli neighbourhood in particular has a cluster of bars that were built to serve the ENI workforce and have been serving the neighbourhood ever since. Nothing exceptional, but the Italian bar ritual is well-observed here.
