A few metres from the Oratorio di San Giovanni, this slightly later confraternity hall (founded 1500) houses an extraordinary work: a Presepio by Federico Brandani, completed around 1560. Brandani modelled fourteen near-life-size terracotta figures of the Holy Family, shepherds, and the magi, set in a rock grotto carved into the wall behind the altar.
The figures are realistically painted and tightly observed — Joseph leaning forward, a shepherd holding a lamb, a kneeling magus offering a vase. The effect is genuinely arresting, far more powerful than a photograph suggests. Combined ticket with the Oratorio di San Giovanni next door.
