Palazzo Mazzarotta

A handsome 18th-century Baroque palazzo in the lower town, with an ornate stone portal and courtyard that opens onto the street. The palazzo is a remnant of the brief period when Campobasso's merchant families were prosperous enough to build in this style. Most of the building is now given over to provincial offices, but the exterior and the courtyard are accessible during business hours.

It stands as one of the clearest signs of the city's ambitions in the 18th century, when Campobasso was the main market town for the cutlery and metalworking trades of the surrounding region.
