Castellana sits in easy striking distance of some of Puglia's best-known towns. The trulli of Alberobello are fifteen kilometres south — easily seen in half a day. The coastal town of Monopoli is twenty kilometres east, with its small harbour, old town, and accessible beaches. Bari, the regional capital, is forty kilometres north and reachable by direct train.
