Getting There

Lecce is the terminus of the main railway line from Brindisi — the journey takes about 30 minutes and trains run frequently throughout the day. From Brindisi, high-speed trains connect to Bari (1 hour) and on to Rome (4 hours) and Milan (6 hours). The nearest airport with international connections is Brindisi Airport (30 minutes by train or taxi from Lecce). Bari Airport has more flights and is about 1.5 hours away.

By car, Lecce sits at the tip of the Salentine peninsula. The A14 motorway runs as far as Taranto; from there it is smaller roads south. Traffic in the old town is restricted; park outside the centre and walk in.
