The largest palazzo in Monopoli's old town, built in the late seventeenth century by the noble Palmieri family on Piazza Garibaldi. The honey-coloured stone facade runs the length of one side of the square, with rusticated ground floor, deep cornices, and a long balcony from which the family used to watch processions arriving at the cathedral opposite.
The interior is now used for civic events and seasonal art shows; the entrance hall and main staircase are usually open during the day, and visitors can walk in to see the painted ceilings and the courtyard. Worth a five-minute look if you are passing.
