Pittulongu is a crescent of fine white sand about 5km north of Olbia on the SP82. It has the infrastructure that family beaches need — sun bed and umbrella rental, beach bars, a water sports centre offering paddleboard and kayak hire — without the steep prices or exclusivity of the Costa Smeralda a further 20km north. Bus line 2 makes the run from the city centre in summer.
The sea here is part of the Tavolara marine protected area, and the water clarity reflects it. The bay faces northeast, which gives it a slight swell in the tramontane wind but keeps summer afternoons sheltered. Behind the beach a string of low-rise holiday apartments and a campsite provide the cheapest accommodation close to Olbia.
