Getting There

By air. The nearest airport is Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB), about 30 km south. In summer it has direct flights from most major European hubs; outside the season the route is mainly through Milan, Rome, or Munich. A taxi to Porto Cervo costs around €70–90; rental cars are the more usual option.

By ferry. Olbia and Golfo Aranci are the main ferry ports for the Costa Smeralda, with overnight and daytime crossings from Civitavecchia (Rome), Livorno, Genoa, and Piombino. The crossing from Civitavecchia takes about six hours. Bringing your own car is the easy way to handle the journey through the island.

By yacht. Porto Cervo's marina has around 700 berths and is the main draw for the yachting crowd in the western Mediterranean. Booking is essential in July and August, and prices in high season are among the highest in Europe.
