Getting There

Agrigento has no airport of its own. The nearest airport is Palermo (about 2 hours by road or rail) or Catania (about 2.5 hours). Direct trains run from Palermo Centrale several times a day, changing sometimes at Caltanissetta or going via the southern coastal route. Buses (Autolinee Cuffaro and others) run from Palermo and Catania, taking roughly the same time as the train but occasionally faster. By car from Palermo, take the A19 autostrada toward Catania and branch off on the SS189 toward Agrigento, or take the more scenic coast road via Sciacca.

The central bus and rail station is at the bottom of Via Atenea. Walking from the station to the Valley of the Temples takes about 45 minutes; a taxi costs around €10 or you can take the local bus (Line 1 or 2, signed for Valle dei Templi). The archaeological park has a car park with admission.
