Getting There

Sicily has two main airports. Catania-Fontanarossa (CTA) on the east coast handles the most traffic, with flights from across Europe. Palermo Falcone-Borsellino (PMO) serves the west. Both have budget airline connections.

From the Italian mainland, you can take a train or drive across the Strait of Messina by ferry from Villa San Giovanni or Reggio Calabria. The crossing takes about 20 minutes. Overnight ferries also run from Naples, Genoa, and other ports. If you are driving from mainland Italy, the A3 motorway leads to the ferry crossing at Villa San Giovanni.
