Getting Around

The old town inside the line of the former walls is small enough to cover entirely on foot in an afternoon. Most of the streets are pedestrianised or low-traffic.

For the salt pans, the Stagnone lagoon, and the wine cellars on the road south, you really need a car or a bicycle — public transport is sparse. A small ferry from Contrada Spagnola crosses the lagoon to the island of Motya every half hour in season.
