Noto is essentially one long architectural set piece, designed as a unified whole after the 1693 earthquake destroyed the original hilltop town. The main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, runs east-west and is the spine of the visit; virtually everything worth seeing is within a few minutes' walk of it.
