The Parterre is Cortona's small public garden, on a terraced promenade just outside the western edge of the historic centre. Stone walls hold up a flat shaded area planted with plane trees and gravel paths — useful as a break from the steep streets above.
The garden's edge overlooks the Val di Chiana, with one of the easiest panoramic views in town reachable on the level. The August beef festival, the Sagra della Bistecca, takes place here under the trees.
